Today brother Joseph Edwin had surgery to cure his irregular heartbeats. The procedure is called cardiac ablation. We woke up at around 4:30, came here at 5:30 am, and are still here at 5:30 pm! Actually, we will probably all still be here well into the night. He is currently in surgery right now. Sorry....it's not a "surgery" I guess, it's just a "procedure," if I wanted to be medically correct in my limited jargon. He will be perfectly fine once it's all done! He will never have any more heart problems again...it takes it all away how an appendectomy takes away your appendix. The procedure is in retrospect not a big deal at all, it just takes hours and hours to accomplish.
So, the rest of the gang (Mom, Dad, Shasha, Michael, me) are in the nice and comfy Ronald McDonald upstairs longue. It's actually quite spacious, luxurious, and beautiful if I do say so myself, with the green, blue, and yellow decor. It's a great day to spend catching up on our latest reads of our books, and writings in our journals if we so choose. Or there is a television, leather couches to lay out on and stretch the muscles, numerous time-consuming board games and puzzles, two large and lovely single-toilet bathrooms complete with showers and white hotel towels and soap, and basic eats such as coffee, ramen noodles, or biscuits, complete with full kitchen appliances and table. Quite the way to live large, eh?
The most humorous part of the day was when they were wheeling young Joey away to the operation room...the first time. Minutes before they prepared for his departure from the tiny hospital cell, they fed him a spot of something that resembled cherry juice. But cherry juice it wasn't. It was actually an equivalent to dope or pot...at least the effects on his outward character resembled as much. He started to laugh outrageously and sing and dance and cry out declarations of love for us all as he was rolled down the long hallway to the room of doom! You should have been there. No, I should have been filming him. Quite sorry. Anyways, the five of us recovered from laughter and made our way down to the cafeteria to have some breakfast. Only half of us (yes, that makes 2 1/2 people) were ready to sit down with our newly purchased delights when the hospital phone that was temporarily given to Mother rang. They called and said that first off, Joey was quite the entertainment of the morning. Secondly, they have to post-pone the procedure for another few hours because the doctor had to preform emergency surgery for a little baby.
The baby is doing splendidly, praise God! Joseph's high did wear off by the time we met up with him again, yet still in high spirits and ready to get this procedure on! He never did show the least bit of fear or anxiety. Brave young one he is.
That's...all I have to say.
Praise God.
Uffda.
